Usman Maishayi was born in Goronyo in the year 1962, in the house of Sule Mai Tukwane. He was martyred at the age of 34. He grew up in a good and caring environment. As a child, he was cared for by his mother called Ige. Martyr Usman worked for his father’s business which was the business of making pots. He was so hardworking that sometimes he just brings the money from the trade to his father without his father working.
Below are the words of praise from the people of Goronyo about Martyr Usman Kassu Maishayi who was murdered by thugs on Friday 20th September 1996.
A brother told us that he dreamt of Angel Gabriel in the form of a bird lying down. When he lay down, Usman kassu got on his wings and they flew up together. Martyr kept calling down at the brothers down to look up “that’s paradise”. When this particular brother looked up, he couldn’t see it.
So after waking up, the brother promised to get much closer to Allah and do all his ‘ibadats’ with ‘ikhlas’.
“And when usman kassu said the shahadatain after being stabbed by Abu UD, the mosque echoed like there was an earthquake, which shook the people to the core.”
Martyr Usman being in the midst of the members of the Islamic Movement made a lot of them if not all praise him with being a man of good morals such as fulfilling his promises, respecting all his acquaintances whether old or young.
And as for his relationship with God, he was well known for been steadfast in the path of resistance, as well as abiding to the dictate of Leadership. He’s famous in giving alms for the sake of Allah, whenever the need arises.
