Martyr Ibrahim Idris Ahmad

Martyr Ibrahim Idris Ahmad was born in Yar-rimawa which is part of Goronyo Local Government in the Northern part of Sokoto State. He was born on 12th February, 1965, in the house of a famous and well known Islamic scholar. Martyr Ibrahim’s father passed away when he was just a year older. He was then taken from his mother Aliyatu at the age of seven by his uncle Alhaji Ahmadu Satsaninka. Alhaji Ahmadu took him to Malam Ila where he studied the Holy Qur’an. Afterwards he went to study under Liman Mustafa where he learned various Arabic books.

In 1973, the person whose care he was under took him to the primary school of yar-rimawa. In 1979 he went to GTC College Binji. In 1984, he passed his grade II exams and later became a teacher in a primary school in Sokoto State. Martyr Ibrahim Idris also studied Arabic in sultan Abubakar III memorial college from 1990-1994. He later went to Usman Danfodio University and got his diploma in 1996. Goronyo Local Government was created at that time and he was sent back to Yar-rimawa to teach as a teacher in a primary school.

Martyr Ibrahim understood the aim and joined the Islamic Movement in Goronyo because of the sermons of Malam Aliyu Adam. He started participating in all the events and activities before he left Goronyo and moved back to Yar-rimawa where he also started calling people and giving sermons.

When the Councilor, Shehu Dan Tsamaye entered the mosque with the police, the first person he pointed at was Martyr Ibrahim and he was shot in the stomach. He went out of the mosque and when he was about to fall, his brother Martyr Umar held him up, Martyr Ibrahim told his brother Martyr Umar to let go of him and leave because they might shoot him too.

After the attack and the members of the Islamic Movement took Martyr Ibrahim and the others who were shot, Martyr Ibrahim attained martyrdom on the way.

He attained martyrdom, he left behind a wife (Maimuna) and two children (Sakinatu and Muhammad).

Martyr Ibrahim was the Amir of members of the Islamic Movement in Yar-rimawa , therefore he was the one teaching them everything about religion.

When it comes to ibadat, he was known for reciting the Quran and always praying his salatul-layl. He’s well known for been steadfast in the path of resistance, as well as abiding to the dictate of Leadership. He was famous for always reading and studying a lot of books. All in all he was praised and loved by the community, and because of his unlawful killing, a lot of people understood the aim of the Islamic Movement.
