Martyr Umar Ilyasu Takure was born in yar-rimawa in 1970, in the household of Malam Ilyasu Takure. His father  passed away when he was 6 years old. So he was raised by his mother Martyr Aliyatu who took him to study some Islamic books and the Quran in the house of Liman Mustafa. He finished the Quran and even some other books there like his elder brother Martyr Ibrahim. Martyr Umar later moved to sokoto then zariya to study with their famous scholars. He also when to Gusau and Talatan Mafara in search of knowledge and then he later came back to Yar-rimawa.

When he saw how the members of the Islamic Movement were harassed and maltreated, he asked his brother Martyr Ibrahim to explain to him what the Islamic Movement was all about. Martyr Ibrahim explained to him and Allah through his infinite mercy made Martyr Umar understand and accepted the movement.

He’s well known for been steadfast in the path of resistance, as well as abiding to the dictate of Leadership. He was also famous for his songs during activities. One of his songs has a chorus that says “Zakzaky kai nake kauna, zuciyata da idanuna”  And another whose chorus goes like this “yanzu lokaci yayi da zamu dau fansa.”

As mentioned above, Martyr Umar was the one who held his brother Martyr ibrahim when he was shot, they also didn’t spare him. They shot him on his shoulder and the bullet pierced through his chest. Before he passed away he wrote a will and gave it to his mother, but she told him she will not collect it because what he is expecting to happen to him is what she is also expecting to happen to her. We have the same religious beliefs and stands.
