Shaheeda Maimuna Shehu was born in Kaduna on 5th June 1993. The schools she attended are: Fudiyyah primary school Tudun Wada, Kaduna, Government Day Secondary School, Kaduna, where she obtained her Junior Secondary School Certificate, DEC International School Kaduna, where she obtained her Senior Secondary School Certificate. Until her martyrdom, she was studying Computer Science at Kaduna State Polytechnic. She was the first born to Malam Shehu Haruna and Malama Aisha Aliyu. She was survived by two brothers and a sister. Her younger sister Fauziyyah Shehu was also martyred during the 2015 Zaria Massacre.
Maimuna has good moral conducts, some of which includes God consciousness, patience, piety, kindness and generosity. She is also courageous and always focused on her aim, which is to give her utmost contribution in actualizing a free and just society. She sacrificed all she had in this cause, including her life.
In 2007, Shaheeda Maimuna’s wedding was fixed. However, few days to the ceremony; her fiancé was arrested and detained among other 101 brothers in Sokoto, where he was jailed for six years. A court set them free because they were pronounced innocent. Maimuna waited for her fiancé for all these (six) years. After his return, their wedding ceremony was rescheduled, two weeks to the wedding, Nigerian Army invaded the residence of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky from 12th to 14th December, 2015 and kill hundreds of people, including Shahida maimuna and her sister Fauziyyah Shehu.
