Martyr Hussaina Dauda Nalado

1.1 BIOGRAPHY AND EDUCATION

1.11 Biography

Husaina Dauda Nalado (1996-2017) was born on Thursday 8th August 1996 at House No. 75 Kabawa Quarters Fuskar Arewa Dala Local Government, Kano State. Her father, Engr Dr Dauda Nalado Dangora is an Agricultural Engineer by profession and now a Senior Lecturer at Bayero University Kano. Her mother, Amina Haruna Ahmad, a dedicated housewife, is a tailor by profession. Husaina is the fourth in a family of eight children. Her seniors are Mahmoud (late), Abdurrhman and Hasana (twin sister). Her juniors are Yusra, Muhammad Baqir, Ameenah and Zahra.

Abdurrahman is in his last Semester studying Architecture at KUST. Wudil. Hasana is studying applied Biology at BUK. Yusra is studying Chemistry Education at KUST. Baqir has just started as an undergraduate student of Food Science and Technology at BUK. Ameena and Zahra are in senior and junior secondary schools respectively.

1.12 Informal Education

Husaina started her learning Quran at early childhood. She was enrolled into the Madrasah of Alaramma Malam Abdu Hadeja at Aikawa Quarters. She also attended Madrasatul qiraatul Quran Islamiyyah. Aikawa. Later she joined Maahad Sheikh Yaqoub at Dukurawa from where she had her Quranic graduation in 2014.

1.13 Formal Education

Husaina Started her pre nursery with her mother at home. She was then enrolled into Aunty Khadija Primary school at Madabo(2001-2003).After that she joined FCE staff primary school in 2004 and finished in 2009. She continued with junior secondary education at the same FCE staff school (2009-2011)and later transferred to Summertime academy to complete the lower basic education (2011- 2012). She did her Senior Secondary education (2013- 2015) at the Sunrise Academy situated at Gwarzo road opposite NYSC Secretariat. That same year she successfully got admission into Bayero University Kano to study Civil Engineering. She was martyred In 2017 when she was already in 200 level.

2.0 ATTITUDE, CONTRIBUTION AND ACHIEVEMENTS

2.1 Attitude

Right from early childhood Husaina exhibited good manners. She was calm but very active. later in life she even became pro active. She was compassionate especially with regards to her siblings. She was very hard working and has determination to carry out tasks to their logical conclusions. She is highly obedient to her parents. Although she was intelligent yet she studied hard. She had good human relations with colleagues at the school and members of the Islamic Movement. She held special regard and reverence to the leader of the Islamic movement Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky (H)

2.2 Contribution and achievement:

Husaina has made tremendous contributions both at home and at the school. She was appointed as the head girl in Summer time academy. She made  high impact on the activities of the Islamic Movement. She was an active member of the academic forum Kano. She attended the Vacational courses (Daurah) both at Zaria (National) and at Kano (local) promptly and rose to be a member of the Daurah organizing committee of Kano chapter. She was active on campus and was the deputy President of the academic forum  (Tajriba) Students association of Bayero University.

She was able to win the highly competitive Scholarship award by the Federation of Construction industries FOCI in her 200 level at the University.

3.0 CONCLUSION

3.1The attack and martyrdom

On Sunday, 5th November 2017, Husaina joined the peaceful arbaeen symbolic trek, Kano axis, to mark the fortieth day from Ashura in solidarity with the brutal murder of Imam Husain, the grandson of the Prophet by tyrant Yazid Bn Muawuya (61 AH). The procession which started from Kofar Mazugal near Kano went smoothly through the city of Kano and proceeded to Zaria road. There were signals, however, that  combined security forces have converged at Lado flyover gyadi gyadi  along the Zaria road battle – ready  waiting to unleash mayhem on peaceful and armless trekkers. Consequently, it was decided that the trek be suspended to a date to be fixed later. The trek was brought to a halt at Jifatu Stores opposite Audu Bako Secretariat Zaria road. Prayers were offered after announcement of the decision on suspension. People were asked to disperse. All of a sudden, the combined security forces rushed and made their way to the place. Without any provocation, or prior warning they attacked the trekkers with tear gas  and live ammunition. Husaina was among the four trekkers killed by the live bullets on the spot. The bullet pieced through her brain. Martyr Aisha Azare was also among. The remaining two were brothers. The corpses of Husaina and Aisha were saved but those of the brothers were carted away by the Police. The police had denied killing anybody only to be exposed later during the burial of Husaina in the following day (Monday, 6th November 2017) Later the Police released the corpse of one brother.

3.2 Her Will

Husaina has felt it that she was going to be martyred next day. So, on the night of the fateful day, she hardly slept. She was busy with prayers and wrote her will through Whatsapp messenger.

She even distributed her property. May her soul rest in perfect peace. May the curse and wrath of Allah be upon her killers Criminal Buhari, Governor Ganduje, CP Rabiu Yusuf and Co. Peace be upon her on the day she was born, on the day she was martyred in the cause of Husain and on the day she will be raised to help Qaim Aali Muhammad.
