Martyr Faruk Gwadangwaji
Martyr Faruk full name is Faruk Khalid. He was born on 3 Muharram 1393, which is equivalent to 7 February 1973 in one town called Gwadangwaji which is in Kebbi State of Nigeria. His father is Mallam Muhammad Khalidu Umar while his mother is Hajiya Aisha Yar Dabbo. Martyr Faruk went to Islamic school for his studies, where he attends one Islamic school in his town, but he didn’t attend any of the western school education. Martyr was a businessman where he is in Poultry business, where he can even go abroad for his business. Martyr faruk has three wives, Eleven Children in which 6 of them are males, whilst five are females.
One can said that 90% of the entire life of martyr was for the contribution to the Islamic movement under the leadership of his eminence, Sheikh Zakzaky H. He contributed all what he has for the achievement of this movement. He gave all what he has as Sadaqah (Infaki), right from his martyrdom up till now there is no one in his village that goes above him in term of Sadaqah. Martyr Faruk has nothing to achieve in this movement apart from attaining Martyrdom, which this makes all what martyr will do, you will hear him seeking Allah martyr. This was confirming both from his friend and his relatives, which at the end Allah gave him. Martyr has some attitude which belongs to him only, he is so friendly and pious person, since from the childhood of martyr, he was not a kind of child that involves in chaos and fight, which even his enemies testified this. He is a person with good and excellent behaviors, where when he attained martyrdom, his society was shocked and reluctant for his martyrdom, because of his good behavior. No one in his relatives will give negative act of martyr, which is why he is different even in his relatives. He helps his parents(most especially his mother, because his father died since when he was young), he helps her, that is why when she came to corpse of martyr, she started voicing out some saying, ‘She saw light coming out from martyr, you have achieved what you so long desired for, do you see the light??? Asking people around’! That was some word coming out from the mother of Martyr before he was taken to his final destination (grave)..
Martyr faruk attained his martyrdom on the 10th of Muharram, 1438 which is equivalent to 12/10/2016, when thugs attack peaceful procession of Ashura in Sokoto State of Nigeria. This happened when the procession was ongoing, martyr tried to reach the protesters because he was late, unfortunately before reaching the protesters, thugs that are behind the protesters stopped and started stabbing martyr up to he attained martyrdom and all this happened in front of Nigerian Police Force, but didn’t help him.
Amir (representative of Muslim Brothers) of Martyr’s town commented very much on the contribution of Martyrs to the Islamic movement, and also his wives said about the justification and good behaviors of Martyr. Martyr Faruk is the only one in his family that is martyr for now (2019).
